This solo is part of a larger series of two mallet works for young players. We suggest this be given to a student in the first year of percussion education. Rabbit Run is written with the goal of getting the performer’s hands to move faster. Most early literature does not give students an opportunity to play quicker tempi, making their transition to a front ensemble of more advanced percussion ensemble setting challenging. Rabbit Run acts as a bridge between those musical situations. We recommend starting slow and playing with a light touch!
