Each year as a fun way to spread some holiday cheer, I arrange a Christmas tune for percussion. The arrangement I chose for 2019 is “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” because of its serious and dark tone. The genre was inspired from minimalistic works such as “Music for 18 Musicians” by Steve Reich. The ensemble requires a driving presence which is primarily propelled forward by the marimba.
