Welcome to Percussion Pal

Welcome to Percussion Pal. We’re the new kids on the block and are really excited to be here. If you’re reading this, you may be wondering what exactly we do and what makes us unique. Around the office, we have one mission: to create resources for the percussion community that educate, inform, and inspire. Our team sees Percussion Pal as a chance to simplify percussion education by presenting information in a clear and engaging way. We know that band halls can get really busy, so we are putting together resources that make the life of a band director or private teacher a little bit easier. We are doing this a few ways, and are building our platform to do even more in the future.

After reading this, take a few minutes to click through the site and see everything that we have to offer! Our focus right now is building our performance library, store, and blog as we continue to chip away at some bigger plans for the coming year!

The performance library is all about putting a high-quality quality template in the hands of young students. Too often we hand students a solo or ensemble and not be able to offer them a high-quality template on YouTube or a publisher website. As a response to this, we are recording the most played beginner and intermediate solos and ensembles that a student would encounter in grades 6-12. These videos have two parts - a high-quality performance video, and a “how-to” where we talk through preparation and tips and tricks for success. No more will there be a long search for decent performance of young literature.

Our online store has swag so you can rock the Percussion Pal brand with stickers and t-shirts, and also has a collection of two mallet solos for young students. This series of solos is all about putting quality music in the hands of young students while teaching them skills to get better! Each etude focuses on a different skill: from playing a melody with one hand while outlining a static harmony in the other, to rolling, scales types, and more.

This blog will be home to insights and information on pedagogy, performing, and more from our staff and the wonderful teachers and performers we have worked with through the years. Our first blog series is a 3-parter all about practice, with the first post out today!

Percussion Pal has been an idea in the making for the better part of five years, and we are feeling really lucky to be here working to make things better for the next generation of young musicians!
